How To Make Facial Cleansing Powder

If you are looking for a natural non-oil stripping facial cleanser to alternate between your soapy face wash that brightens and exfoliates your skin, try this homemade facial cleansing powder. Most ingredients you may already have in your kitchen, but if not, it will be simple to find in the store or through Amazon like I did. More and more beauty brands are selling cleansing grains (grains/powder same thing) for natural alternative but you can do it yourself.

 What is facial cleansing powder?

There are different variations to make cleansing powder but I will share the combination that I’ve been using since I only share what I’m familiar with. All of the ingredients (except for the clay and essential oil) are edible: oats, almonds, brown rice flour, goat’s milk powder, licorice root powder and it can be stored for a long time. You only mix it with a liquid when you are ready to apply it.

About the ingredients and benefits of cleansing powder.

Oatmeal (old fashioned) – Soothes inflamed skin and heals eczema and acts as a gentle exfoliator.

Brown Rice Flour – Removes dead skin cells, reduce scars and marks, rich in complex B vitamin.

Goat’s Milk Powder – Contains lactic acid which helps remove dead skin cells and rich  in Vitamin A to repair cell damage. Goats milk pH is close to your skin’s pH.

Licorice Root Powder – Has soothing anti-inflammatory qualities and is often used in skin brightening products.

Kaolin Clay – The most versatile clay commonly found in standard cosmetics. It is the mildest cleanser of all clays which is suitable for sensitive skin.

Almonds – soft powdery grains of almonds makes the softest exfoliation and suitable for any skin type.
